The Master of Divinity Non-Ordination track (“Lay” Master of Divinity) at the University of St. Thomas is a 73-hour professional degree program designed to provide the academic foundation necessary for ministerial leadership. Students pursuing this degree undertake coursework in the classroom alongside those men who are seeking ordination to the Roman Catholic priesthood; the Lay Master of Divinity students, both men and women, benefit from this dynamic while contributing their own valuable insight and perspective.
The program is available to students preparing for lay ecclesial ministry in the Church or pastoral leadership in Catholic or other Christian denominations. Academic studies include Moral Theology, Sacred Scripture, Church History, Systematic Theology, Canon Law, Liturgy, Sacraments, and Pastoral Theology.
