The Certificate (a non-degree program) is designed to help develop the academic and pastoral skills necessary for ordination as a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church and for other ecclesial and lay ministries.

The Graduate Certificate in Faith and Culture program is rooted in the same course offerings as the Master of Arts in Faith and Culture degree program. If you don’t want to pursue an advanced degree in Faith and Culture, a certificate program may be the better option. It can be completed with half the credit hours and allows you to enrich your academic or professional career while earning a recognized credential.

How is the Graduate Certificate different from the Master of Arts in Faith and Culture?

The Graduate Certificate:

  • Is comprised of only the first 18 hours (core courses) of the full degree program
  • Offers the option of replacing two of those core courses with approved electives

Options are available for transferring credits if you wish to enroll in the degree program before earning your certificate. You must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.25 to be eligible.
